“Dr. Hastings is an exceptional foot and ankle surgeon. I met him during our fellowship in Kurgan, Russia studying external fixation in 2011.

I want everyone to know that I recently had a case of a young man in his 20s who went into cardiogenic shock, was revived, and both his feet became gangrenous due to hypotension (low blood pressure). Orthopedics recommended amputations of both his legs. I was consulted as a second opinion and I remembered an old case study that Dr. Hastings published many years ago where he utilized a soft tissue expander for the closure of an open, complicated wound that saved the patient from a below-knee-amputation.

I remembered this study and used the technique for the first time. As a result, this young man is now walking in shoes, NOT a bilateral amputee, and can lead a normal life. If it were not for Dr. Hastings publishing this study, this young man would have had a very different life and future.”
