McKenzie-Hastings Institute for Foot & Ankle Surgery in Suffolk, Virginia is pleased to offer our patients the latest cutting-edge technologies to assist in diagnosing and treating their foot and ankle conditions.
The state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment in our office ensures that our foot and ankle doctors are able to diagnose injuries and conditions quickly, plan the treatments most suitable for you, and perform the latest procedures to help resolve your foot and ankle problem as accurately as possible.
When you become a patient at McKenzie-Hastings Institute for Foot & Ankle Surgery, you will benefit from these leading technologies:
AmnioFix® Regenerative Injections
Arthroscopic or Minimally Invasive Surgery
If you require arthroscopic surgery to treat a foot or ankle condition, our foot doctors will use small incisions guided by a miniature viewing instrument, leading to a quicker surgery with a shorter recovery time.
Buzzy® Award-Winning Physiologic Pain Blocker
This unique pain-blocking device uses cold and vibration to provide natural pain relief without needles or injections. It works by gently massaging aches and desensitizing pain nerves.
For those who are needle-phobic, Buzzy® can also be used to block the pain of injections.
Computerized Gait and Pressure Analysis
All too often, back, neck, hip, or knee pain is a result of foot problems. Our foot doctors will perform a digital scan of your feet to help detect any structural abnormalities or imbalances within the feet that may be causing you pain. They will also visually observe you walking or running on a treadmill. Together the observation and digital scan will help our podiatrists learn more about your gait patterns so they can develop an effective treatment plan using orthotics, gait training, or both.
This minimally invasive therapy uses extremely cold temperatures to destroy nerve endings and relieve pain. It is most often used to treat plantar fasciitis, neuromas, heel pain, and other painful foot conditions.
We can fit custom braces to treat foot problems that may be caused by diabetic foot or other conditions. The brace helps to properly position the foot and ankle joints and can help relieve painful symptoms.
Custom Diabetic Inserts / Shoes
Since having diabetes can increase your risk of foot ulcers and infections, our podiatrists offer customized inserts and shoes. These can help protect the health of your feet by providing structure and improving blood circulation.
Digital Custom Orthotics
Our podiatrists use computerized 3-D imaging to more accurately fit shoe inserts called orthotics to treat your specific foot problems, including flatfoot, running injuries, heel pain, diabetic foot, plantar fasciitis, bunions, neuromas, Achilles tendonitis, and more.
Our doctors use digital X-rays to create images of internal structures and help with diagnosis and treatment planning. These X-rays are especially helpful for diagnosing injuries quickly and efficiently with less radiation exposure compared to older methods.
Immobilizers and Splints
For gait disturbances, especially in children, our foot doctors offer knee immobilizers with nighttime foot and ankle splints. We also offer immobilizers to add in recovery from injury and post-surgery.
Our skilled podiatrists may use sclerosing injections (alcohol injections) to help relieve pain caused by Morton’s neuromas.
Depending on the site and source of your foot pain, our foot doctors may suggest shoe modifications, including custom orthotics or custom diabetic inserts and shoes. These may be used when you have heel pain, tendonitis, hammer toes, or bunions, or foot pain related to arthritis or diabetic foot.
Supartz® Joint Injections
We use this non-surgical injectable treatment alternative, known as viscosupplementation, for ankle pain and ankle arthritis to promote cushioning and lubrication inside the ankle.
